West Virginia State Senate Passes Surrogacy Regulations

West Virginia’s State Senate has voted in new legislation called the “Assisted Reproduction Act” in order to set the legal procedures required for surrogacy within its borders. To be sure, surrogacy agencies will be prohibited from operating and advertising within the state for commercial purposes – although lawyers and the surrogates themselves are not included in this legislation.

The legislation further includes some parameters for the surrogates, as well as the Intended Parents.  Next step is the legislation to pass onto the House of Delegates for further review before potentially heading to the Governor.
